QUEENS, N.Y. (March 26, 2012)-- Junior Summer Comstock of the St. John's softball team will spend 12 weeks in Portland, Ore. this summer as part of her Nike Sports Marketing Internship, a prestigious position handed out to only a few select applicants across the country.
"[The internship] is in the action sports division, Nike 6.0," Comstock said. "I have a pretty good background in action sports, so I'm really excited."
The internship is open only to college juniors and is a 12-week position during the summer. Interns will be tasked with a specific project depending on their manager assignment, while also working on a Cross-Functional project that will be presented to senior level management.
The opportunity allows interns to learn about Nike, and gives them the option to apply for a full-time position after their senior year.
"I love Nike just about more than anything; my entire outfit everyday is Nike and going into Niketown is like going into Disney World for me," Comstock said. "This allows me to combine academics with my love for Nike."
Comstock first found out that she received the prestigious position while the team was at the ESPN Wide World of Sports participating in the Citrus Classic. The Draper, Utah native said that it was exciting to have her teammates around her when she got the news.
The softball team will be back in action on Wednesday as it opens BIG EAST play at Providence with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
