Red Storm Leads Through Two Rounds At Hoya Invitational

BEALLSVILLE, Md. (April 2, 2012)-- Despite tough scoring conditions, the St. John's women's golf team continued its strong play to start the spring and leads the Hoya Invitational by two strokes heading into the final round of play after shooting 3-16-319--635(+59) on the first day.
"The course played extremely difficult today; it was a true test for all the players," head coach Ambry Bishop said. "We feel very fortunate to be in the position we are after out play today. It will be key for us to stay patient and mentally tough for tomorrow's round."
Playing on The Members Club at Four Streams, sophomore Harin Lee led the way for the Johnnies, shooting 77-76--153(+9) on the first day and is in third place overall. Senior Ellen Oswald carried over her strong finish from last weekend, shooting 80-80--160(+16) and is in a tie for 11th. Juniors Sebin Kim and Jennifer Neville are in the top-15 as well, tied for 14th as Neville shot 81-80 and Kim shot 78-83 for two round totals of 161(+17). Sophomore Stephanie Eybers shot 81-90--171(+27) to round out the STJ scoring.
Freshman Cameron Lambertson posted 91-89--180(+36) while competing as an individual.
The Red Storm is two strokes ahead of Old Dominion, and will try to hold off the Lady Monarchs and the rest of the field as it goes for its second title in as many weeks.
Third-round play will being Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start, and results available after the conclusion of the round on RedStormSports.com.
