Red Storm Finishes 11th At Invitational At Kiawah

Kiawah Island, S.C. - Jumping up two spots after a strong final round, the St. John's men's golf team finished in 11th at the Invitational at Kiawah. Freshman Dylan Crowley was the top finisher on the day and the tournament for the Red Storm, carding a 76(+4) for a three-day total of 236(+20).
Senior Ryan Gay posted his best round as a member of the Johnnies with a six-over 78 on day three. The Pittston, Maine native posted a total of 13 pars on the day, including a 38(+2) on his front nine.
Senior Pat Wilson shot a final-round 79(+7) where he finished strong, going two-under over his final five holes. Junior Ryan McCormick fired an 80(+8), which included a team-high three birdies on the Ocean Course, labeled by Golf Digest as the toughest course in America.
Sophomore Mitch Hadfield closed at one-under par over his final three holes on his way to an 84(+12), while senior Jeremy Quinn - the team leader after two rounds - fired an 88(+16) on the final day to round out the scoring for the Red Storm.
After dueling at the site of the 2012 PGA Championship, St. John's will return back to the friendly confines of Long Island to host the 2012 McLaughlin, Sept. 15-16 at Bethpage State Park's Red Course. The Johnnies have won the McLaughlin a record four times.
