Red Storm Takes Fourth At 2012 McLaughlin

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The St. John's men's golf team took home its first top-five finish of the season after posting a season-best 281(+1) in the final round of the McLaughlin on Sunday to finish fourth.
The second round of the tournament was postponed on Saturday due to darkness and was concluded on Sunday morning. After all the scores were tallied, the Red Storm found themselves tied for ninth place with a 291(+11) in round two. Senior Pat Wilson and junior Ryan McCormick led the charge for St. John's, each firing 72(+2) in the second round.
Sophomore Dylan Crowley posted a 73(+3), senior Jeremy Quinn shot a 74(+4) and classmate Ryan Gay shot a 78(+8). Sophomore Mitch Hadfield shot a 74(+4) while competing as an individual.
In the third round, four different Red Storm players posted their best rounds of the tournament. Wilson posted a 67(-3) to pull back to even par for the tournament and tie for seventh. Quinn posted an even-par 70 and Gay shot a 73(+3) . Hadfield and McCormick each shot 71(+1) as McCormick tied for 11th. Crowley posted a 75 as St. John's leapfrogged six other schools in the final 18 holes to take the fourth-place finish.
No. 5 Auburn posted a 276(-4) in the final round to take the win, while the Tigers' Jake Mondy finished eight-under for the tournament to take the individual title.
