Handford Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Aliyyah Handford earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Handford averaged 25.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in the Red Storm's 3-0 start to the season.
Handford, being tabbed to the Honor Roll for the first time in her career, posted her first career double-double in a 77-72 overtime win at Sacred Heart to jumpstart the Red Storm's season. She notched career-bests with 25 points and 13 rebounds in the thriller against the Pioneers.
In St. John's home opener against Iona, Handford topped her recently set career-high with a 32-point performance and registered her second straight double-double after adding 10 rebounds in the Red Storm's 78-48 victory.
The sophomore guard rounded out the week with a career-high eight steals in addition to her 19 points and six rebounds in a 66-56 win over St. Francis (N.Y.).
St. John's wraps up a three-game homestand when the team welcomes Quinnipiac on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. contest. The game will be carried live on ESPN3
