Aleksandra Wachowicz Makes Academic All-District First Team

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior Aleksandra Wachowicz was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon. A management major, Wachowicz ranks in the top-three in the BIG EAST in kills per set and points per set this season, while maintaining a 3.98 cumulative GPA.
With 3.73 kills per set and 4.33 points per set thus far, Wachowicz also ranks 68th and 54th in the NCAA, respectively. In addition, the junior has posted a team-high 0.34 aces per set, which ranks sixth in the conference, has hit to a .263 percentage, which is the second- best on the squad, and has chipped in 1.63 digs per set, which is the fifth-most on the team.
The native of Legionowo, Poland, has also posted four double-doubles and has made the BIG EAST weekly honor roll twice this year. She received All-Tournament honors during the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic and was named MVP of the Bryant Invitational.
Her 27 kills in a 3-1 win over Villanova on Oct. 12 are the most by any BIG EAST player in a four-set match this season.
Last season, Wachowicz recorded 3.03 kills per set, 3.33 points per set, 0.10 service aces per set, and 0.97 digs per set, while hitting to a .184 percentage.
Wachowicz has also advanced to the next stage of voting in which CoSIDA determines Academic All-America teams. Results will be released on Thursday, Dec. 12.
