QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior guard Shenneika Smith was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after her season-best 26.0 point performance against BIG EAST-rival Georgetown in overtime on Saturday. Smith's outstanding performance led the Red Storm to their first OT win this season. Monday was Smith's fifth weekly honor this season, which included BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 26 and three other weekly honor roll mentions (Jan. 28, Dec. 17 and Nov. 19).
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native also added two blocks, five rebounds, a season-high 11 field goals, and four assists to her super-star performance against Georgetown. Smith played one of her most efficient games of the season with only one turnover to go with a 45.8 field goal percentage on 11-for-24 shooting. Smith has been on a tear of late as this was her fourth-straight game with 20-plus points. She has had nine games this season with 20 or more.
Smith is 18th in the national Division I rankings in blocks per game (2.47). She helps St. John's to a No. 7 ranking nationally.
