QUEENS, N.Y. - To conclude an already stellar career at St. John's, senior Nevena Selakovic was chosen as a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Selakovic is the first St. John's women's tennis player to be named to the all-conference team since regular season awards were announced in 2009.
In just three years at St. John's, Selakovic has amassed 32 career wins including 14 this season, all coming at the first singles position. This past spring was the Serbia native's second-consecutive season with 12 or more victories.
"We're thrilled for Nevena. She had had an outstanding career at St. John's and is the model student-athlete," said first year head coach Taka Bertrand. "Nevena has led our team as captain and as the top player of our lineup. She will leave this program as one of the best players in school history."
Selakovic won seven of her last eight matches to end the season, including two wins in the BIG EAST Tournament over first singles players from Rutgers and Seton Hall.
