QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's tennis coaches Taka Bertrand and Eric Rebhuhn have announced the schedules for their respective tennis camps to be held on The Courts at St. John's this summer.
Bertrand, partnering with Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps, will direct a pre-4th of July camp starting on Friday, June 28 and ending on Tuesday, July 2.
The staff of the St. John's women's tennis team will be on hand to bring out the best in each camper with a comprehensive instructional program that features daily teaching progressions and small groups to ensure individual attention. T-shirts, water bottles and a camp demo program featuring the latest Wilson rackets are included.
"I'm very excited to be directing a Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at The Courts at St. John's this summer," said Bertrand, who just completed her first season at the helm of the Red Storm women's tennis program. "It will be a five-day intensive tennis camp for kids of all ages before the 4th of July holiday. My staff and I will be providing technical instruction and engaging the campers in a variety of games and competitive drills."
Boys and girls from ages 8-18 and of all skill levels are welcome. The five-day camp features full day (9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., $400) and half day options (9 a.m. to noon, $250). St. John's faculty and staff will receive a registration discount. To sign up now and for more information, log on to www.wilsontenniscamps.com/st-johns-university.
Rebhuhn's summer tennis academy for rookies and juniors, ages 5-16 years, will be in session for seven weeks starting the week of Sunday, July 7. Campers will get started at 9 a.m. with a pickup time at 4 p.m. Rebhuhn, the 2011 BIG EAST Coach of the Year, will teach the basics of the game, stroke development, ground stroke, volley and overhead drills, while enhancing strength, agility and technique.
A separate camp split into three weekend intensives for adults will start on Saturday, July 13. The intensives are designed to satisfy the demand for good tennis skills from adults who have limited time.
"I'm really excited for my 10th year running tennis camps at St. John's," said Rebhuhn. "If you want to have fun this summer while developing your game, come join us on the courts."
Tuition for rookies and juniors is $495 a week with a half day price of $300 available upon request. Tuition for the three weekend intensives for adults is $240 per session. St. John's faculty and staff will receive a registration discount. For more information and to register, log onto ertennis.com.
