Mulligan Earns Spot On BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - After netting the game-winning goal to help No. 19 St. John's notch a season-opening 2-1 victory against NJIT, senior Jimmy Mulligan has been named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly honor roll.
Mulligan found the back of the net in the 77th minute to secure the win after NJIT had scored the equalizer in the 61st minute. Daniel Herrera and Adrian L'Esperance assisted on the goal, which helped St. John's improve to 20-8-7 (.671) all-time in season-openers and 14-4-5 (.717) in season-openers in The Masur Era.
The game-winning goal was featured on ESPN FC on Sunday night, checking in at No. 10 on the show's countdown of the top 10 goals of weekend. ESPN FC, the new global soccer news and information program from ESPN, airs in an hour-long format on Sundays and as a 30-minute edition on weekdays.
St. John's (1-0-0) returns to action tonight with a 7 p.m. game against No. 20 Virginia on the road in Charlottesville, Va.
