QUEENS, N.Y. - Team Notes
- St. John's shot 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from long range, marking the sixth time this season that the Red Storm has shot at least 50.0 percent from distance. The Red Storm is 3-3 in such games.
- The Red Storm finished +3 (41-38) on the glass to improve to 6-1 this season when outrebounding the opposition.
- St. John's shot 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the charity stripe and has now shot better than 77.0 percent from the line in each of the past four games. The Red Storm improved to 9-0 this season when shooting more free throws than the opposition.
- The Red Storm finished with 11 blocks, its most since an 11-block performance against Penn State on Nov. 29, 2013.
- St. John's committed just 14 fouls in the game, its fewest since committing 14 fouls against Columbia on Dec. 28, 2013. The Red Storm is 7-0 this season when being whistled for 15 or fewer personal fouls.
Individual Notes
- Phil Greene IV made a career-high four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points to reach double-figures for the second-straight game and seventh time this season. Greene finished 4-of-5 from long range to best his previous career-high of three 3s, a feat he last accomplished on Feb. 14, 2013 at Louisville. Greene committed zero turnovers in 24 minutes of action and now has just seven turnovers in 444 minutes this season, just one miscue every 63.4 minutes on the court.
- JaKarr Sampson shot 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from the floor to finish in double-figures for the second-straight game and 14th time this season with a 13-point effort. Sampson is shooting 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from the floor in the past two games, while averaging 14.5 points in that span.
- Orlando Sanchez grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and matched a career-high with four blocks, while finishing with eight points. Sanchez also matched a career-high with two steals.
- D'Angelo Harrison made of 1-of-4 3-pointers and has made at least one trey in 16-of-18 games this season.
- God'sgift Achiuwa finished with five points and four rebounds. Achiuwa is averaging 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 18.0 minutes of action in the past two contests.
- Max Hooper went 1-of-2 from long range to improve to 17-of-44 (38.6 percent) from distance for the season, including a 41.2 percent (7-of-17) clip in the past five games.
