Women's Basketball Media Day Set For October 15

"For years now I've been saying that St. John's women's basketball is one of the best stories in New York City," said head coach Joe Tartamella. "I'm incredibly proud of what we've built here and I welcome every opportunity to share the Red Storm's story."
St. John's enters the 2014-15 campaign following its fifth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament this past spring, when the Red Storm advanced to the second round for the fourth time in those five tries. The Red Storm is one of only 19 teams in the nation to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament in each of the past five seasons.
The program will kick off at 11:45 a.m., beginning with lunch in Carnesecca Arena.
Starting at 12:30 p.m., media availabilities will start with a press conference from Head Coach Joe Tartamella in the Taffner Field House Media Room. After that, players will be made available in small groups.
Included in those groups of players will be Aliyyah Handford, a First Team All-BIG EAST selection last year who broke the school's sophomore scoring record, Amber Thompson, who broke the school's single-season rebounding record as a junior, and Danaejah Grant, the team's second-leading scorer from last year who is gearing up for her first full season in red and white.
