NEW YORK - After dominating the score sheet in the Red Storm's 1-0 victory over Villanova on Sunday afternoon, Caitlyn McLaughlin and Diana Poulin have been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office on Monday morning.
McLaughlin scored the lone goal of the afternoon against the Wildcats, taking a cross from Rachel Daly in the 70th minute and burying it in the back of the net to break a scoreless tie. The tally was the Fairfax Station, Va., native's second of the season, both of which have been game winners.
Poulin takes home her second weekly honor of the season after leading the St. John's defense to its sixth clean sheet of the year. The sophomore from Hauppauge, N.Y., recorded five saves in the victory, including a few key stops down the stretch. Poulin's performance proves more impressive after factoring in the Sunday absence of senior Chelsey Martino, who had started every game on the back line prior to being sidelined with injury against the Wildcats.
Following Sunday's victory, St. John's remains atop the BIG EAST standings in a three-way tie with Georgetown and DePaul. Two of those teams will battle it out on Thursday night, as the Red Storm hosts the Hoyas at 7 p.m. at Belson Stadium.
