Aliyyah Handford Tabbed BIG EAST Player Of The Week

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Aliyyah Handford was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week after leading the No. 24 Red Storm to a 69-56 win over Villanova at Carnesecca Arena on Feb. 15. This is Handford's second career Player of the Week nod.
The Newark, N.J. native guided St. John's (19-5, 12-1 BIG EAST) to its 11th-straight victory behind a game-high 25 points as Handford put forth a 10-for-18 effort from the field and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe. Handford has now tallied 20 double figure scoring performances and seven 20-plus outings this season. In addition to her 25-point showing, Handford pulled down eight rebounds and dished out two assists.
Up next, St. John's hits the road for an 8 p.m. conference clash at Georgetown on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
