QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading her team to the W-League Western Conference Championship this past Saturday, St. John's standout Rachel Daly was named a member of the W-League All-Western Conference Team as a defender.
This weekend, Daly helped the LA Blues rally in a comeback victory in the 2014 W-League Western Conference Championship game, giving her squad a 2-1 win to earn the conference title and send the team into the W-League Championship to face the Charlotte Lady Eagles in the semifinals on Friday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the IMG Academy Stadium in Bradenton, Florida.
Through her team-leading 12 games played this summer, Daly has recorded two goals and a pair of assists for six points to earn the All-Conference defensive honors.
This past fall, Daly set St. John's single-season records in goals (23) and points (50), becoming the program's first-ever student-athlete to be named a NSCAA All-American after earning second team honors. Daly, who was also earned first team NSCAA All-Northeast Region, finished tied as the nation's top goal scorer in Division I, helping guide the Red Storm to the NCAA Tournament Second Round after claiming the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
Daly was also the undisputed choice as the BIG EAST Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Year, while also being a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
