QUEENS, N.Y. - Looking for redemption from the devastating loss that quickly became known as "The Miracle At Medinah" at the 2012 Ryder Cup, former St. John's star Keegan Bradley is set to compete in the 2014 Ryder Cup in Perthshire, Scotland, from Sept. 26-28.
"The Ryder Cup is as much fun as you can have on the golf course," said Bradley after his debut in 2012. "Walking to the first tee was probably the proudest moment of my entire career, and it happened on a Tuesday at the Ryder Cup."
Bradley earned his spot on the 2014 squad as the first of three captain's picks earlier this month, joining Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson as the final additions to Team USA Captain Tom Watson's elite squad.
"I made no secret of how important this team is to me, and how bad I want to go back and win the Ryder Cup," said Bradley after hearing of his selection to the team.
For Bradley, this trip to Scotland is more than just an opportunity to compete, but rather a shot at redemption after that heartbreaking moment just two years ago. The then-26 year old posted a 3-1 record in his Ryder Cup debut in 2012, winning all three events with his illustrious partner Phil Mickelson before falling to Rory McIlroy in the Sunday singles.
The dynamic duo was able to post a 7-and-6 foursomes victory over Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, tying a record for the largest margin of victory in a match involving partners, but unfortunately their performance was not enough as Team Europe was able to comeback from the largest deficit in the event's history, the same four-point margin that Team USA overcame in 1999, to take home the victory.
Bradley will likely pair up with Mickelson once again this year, looking to duplicate their impressive performance from two years ago in hopes of leading Team USA to victory at Gleneagles.
The 2014 Ryder Cup will take place at the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles, a 7,243-yard, par-72 course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Live television coverage for the three-day event will be:
Friday, Sept. 26 - 2:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. ET - Golf Channel
Saturday, Sept. 27 - 3 a.m. - 1 p.m. ET - NBC
Sunday, Sept. 28 - 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. ET - NBC
