Head Coach Steve Lavin
Opening Statement:
"I was pleased that we were able to find a way to win. Sometimes on a cold shooting night a team has to manufacture a victory. There are lots of facets of play we need to improve upon, but clearly getting the W was a step in the right direction for this group."
On the BIG EAST Conference:
"Tonight was another BIG EAST battle. If you look at league play, all of the games are coming down to the wire. This was par for the course and continues the trend for the BIG EAST this year. There is very little separation between first and last place in this conference."
On D'Angelo Harrison turnaround:
"I thought it was important that our players showed confidence in D'Angelo by coming back to him in crunch time. D'Angelo stepped up and hit the 3 late and then salted away the win with those free throws."
On playing against Duke on Sunday:
"The Duke game obviously presents a big opportunity for us on our home court against a very talented team. To beat Duke it's going to have to be a sustained collective effort."
Senior Forward Sir'Dominic Pointer
On stopping Matt Carlino:
"When a player is hot they are going to keep going to them but we made a collective effort and shut him down."
On the team:
"We have a good team. This year we were dependent on [D'Angelo Harrison] but we have other people who can step up and that helps the team out. When you have a bad night we can still win and that will help us in the tournament and further down the line."
Senior Guard Phil Greene IV
On the win:
"It was a big win for us. We didn't want to go 1-5 and dig ourselves that big of a hole. We want to go on one-game winning streaks, worry about each opponent and each game and keep going on like that."
On Rysheed Jordan:
"He's just focused. He comes to the game with a different approach now and is just more focused on basketball and it's showing in his game with how patient he is. His overall game is just elevated."
