QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading the Red Storm to a win over No. 18/17 USF on Sunday afternoon, Danaejah Grant has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, it was announced this afternoon by the league office.
Grant, the BIG EAST's leading scorer this season at 19.6 points per game, put forth a huge performance in the Red Storm's win over the nationally ranked Bulls, scoring 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting, dishing out four assists and grabbing four boards.
The win marked the second time in five games that Grant has scored at least that many points, as she scored a game-high 28 in the team's win over UC Irvine on Nov. 15.
This is the second time in her career that Grant has been recognized as the conference's player of the week, earning the accolade after scoring a career-high 30 points in the Red Storm's 2014-15 season opener at Yale.
Last Monday, Grant was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts in wins against Rutgers (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Marist (17 points, eight rebounds).
Grant and the Red Storm return to action on Thursday night, playing host to Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
