QUEENS, N.Y. - After setting a pair of career highs with 22 points and 12 rebounds against Duquesne on Saturday, junior forward Jade Walker has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her collegiate career, it was announced this morning by the conference office.
In the Red Storm's loss to Duquesne on Saturday, the junior shot 9-of-16 from the field and added two assists and a steal to her impressive totals. Behind leading efforts from Walker, the Red Storm has fallen just twice this season, once in the season-opener at UCLA and again on Saturday after rattling off eight-straight victories.
The Maplewood, N.J., native is the Red Storm's third-leading scorer on the year, behind Aliyyah Handford and Danaejah Grant, averaging 12.1 points per game. Walker also leads the team in field goal percentage, hitting .567 of her attempts from the floor.
St. John's will close out its non-conference slate tomorrow afternoon, playing host to Fairfield at 2 p.m. in Carnesecca Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Ralph Bednarczyk and Cayleigh Griffin on the call.
