Obe Ayton Leads Red Storm In Season Opener

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Senior Obe Ayton leads the Red Storm after the first round of The Loyola Invitational, presented by the Neville Kovacs Group, finishing the day with a 71 (-1) to put him in a tie for ninth overall.
The Red Storm finished the day with a 304 (+16) to sit in 13th place in the field of 17 after the first round of play. As a team, the Johnnies combined for 13 birdies on the day with Ayton leading the way with five.
Dylan Crowley ended the day tied for 49th after carding a four-over round of 76 while Mitch Hadfield tied for 61st with a 77 (+5). Senior John Russo rounded out the team total after carding an 80 (+8) while Giuseppe Truglio made his collegiate debut with an 86 (+14).
The Red Storm returns to the course on Monday for the second round of the three-day event, joining Southern Illinois, Missouri State and Navy on the 10th tee starting at 10:50 a.m. ET.
