Head coach Joe Tartamella
Opening Statement:
"Obviously this was a tough defeat for us. Our effort tonight was somewhat embarrassing. I thought we were flat. We had a little bit of a disjointed week, which hurt us, but we didn't give a good enough effort and didn't play very well together tonight. We have to figure a way to do a better job to motivate our players to be ready for games. We have to get out of this spot we're in right now and try to turn things around with a win on Sunday against Providence. We saw a few bright spots with some of our freshmen being able to score a little bit but overall we have to make better decisions as individuals and as a team. We'll figure out. We're going to get back to work and get ready for Sunday."
On the keys to the Red Storm bouncing back from tonight's loss:
"We're turning the page. That's what I told them in the locker room. We have to get ready for Sunday. The way the schedule is, you have to have a short-term memory. We have to obviously digest what occurred this evening and then be able to turn that around and have a better effort on Sunday. We've been here before and we've been able to bounce back. Every team is different throughout the seasons but I have confidence that we will be able to do that."
On the play of freshman Crystal Simmons:
"She made shots tonight, which is great. If she can do that on a consistent basis, she'll be an intricate part of our team, which is what we expected and expect from her. I thought she gave us a good lift and defended well. When she's making shots it's a big lift for her confidence. We'll need that going forward just as we'll need Tonoia [Wade], Imani [Littleton] and Tamesha [Alexander] to help us."
Senior forward Amber Thompson
On the Red Storm's shortcomings against Creighton:
"I just feel like we didn't have the energy that we needed. We need to find the fire and figure out where we left what we had before. We need to pick it back up. [Creighton] had more energy than us and came out harder tonight."
On the Red Storm facing adversity:
"When we step inside those lines we need to understand that everything else goes out the window and that we need to focus on what we are there to do. If we don't focus we can't win. We have to follow the game plan and find our energy."
