QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior Tori Free and senior Erin Burner both found a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week after an impressive performance in the team's lone game of the week against Dartmouth.
Returning to the circle for the first time since Feb. 27, Free was able to strike out eight of her first 10 batters in a three-inning start against Dartmouth. The junior right-hander returned to pitch the final two-thirds of the nine-inning game against the Big Green, finishing with a no-decision and nine strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.
Burner finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, a sacrifice fly and a pair of RBI against the Big Green. The home run tied the game for the Red Storm in the bottom of the sixth and also marked the 33rd long-ball of the senior's career.
St. John's will return to action on Wednesday, March 25 as it hosts local rival LIU Brooklyn in a single-game matchup at 3 p.m.
