Aliyyah Handford Named WBCA All-America Honorable Mention

QUEENS, N.Y. - For the second-consecutive year, Aliyyah Handford has been named to the WBCA Honorable Mention All-America list, one of fewer than 50 players in the nation to garner the esteemed recognition.
Handford receives the honor follow a standout season for the Red Storm, as the Newark, N.J., native led the BIG EAST in scoring at 19.3 points per game. She also ranked in the top 10 in the conference in rebounding, pulling down 6.5 boards per contest and tallying six double-digit rebounding performances on the season.
For her efforts, Handford was tabbed as a unanimous pick to the All-BIG EAST First Team for the second-straight year.
Putting up 655 points, Handford recorded the second-best single-season scoring total in program history.
The Malcom X. Shabazz High School product led the Red Storm to the Round of 16 in this season's WNIT, marking the program's eighth-straight postseason appearance and the fourth time that the Red Storm won multiple postseason games.
Handford cracked the 20-point mark on 19 occasions this season, registering a season-high 27 points on four separate occasions. In 34 games, Handford has failed to reach double digits only four times.
Last season, Handford garnered WBCA Honorable Mention All-America honors after leading the Red Storm to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament with a team-best 16.7 points per game.
