Francesca Carrullo Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

QUEENS, N.Y. -- Senior pitcher Francesca Carrullo was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon after an impressive performance to lead the Red Storm to a series sweep over Georgetown this past weekend. Freshman Savannah Warren was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Carrullo did not allow a single earned run or extra-base hit in 10.2 innings of work this week, picking up a 2-0 record after striking out eight batters and holding opponents to a .162 batting average. The senior right-hander also earned the second shutout of her career with a 6-0 victory over Georgetown on Thursday, holding the Hoyas to four hits while striking out four in the complete-game victory.

Warren landed the honors an impressive week against Georgetown, finishing the three-game series batting 5-for-6 (.833) with a double, a triple, seven RBI, three runs scored, a walk and a pair of sacrifice flies for a 1.33 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage.
