QUEENS, N.Y. - Graduate Student Georgia Kearney-Perry is the latest member of the St. John's Red Storm to receive a national honor, finding a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Best XI.
A second team selection, Kearney-Perry is one of just 33 players nationwide to earn the accolade. She is also the only player from the BIG EAST to find herself on the list.
The reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, Kearney-Perry anchored the BIG EAST's stingiest defensive unit a year ago, as the Red Storm registered a league-best 0.65 goals against average against conference opponents.
In last year's BIG EAST Tournament, Kearney-Perry also showed signs of offensive prowess, registering the first two goals of her career in as many games en route to an appearance on the All-Tournament Team.
A two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Kearney-Perry was granted a fifth year of eligibility this spring. The Tring, England, played in only two games her freshman season before an injury sidelined her for the rest of the campaign.
Kearney-Perry and the Red Storm will kick off the 2015 campaign on Friday, Aug. 21, as they head to Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. contest with the Seawolves.
