QUEENS, N.Y. - Following three stellar performances in a 2-1 week for the Red Storm, Shamorie Ponds has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, it was announced this morning by the league office.

Three days later against Fordham, Ponds led the Red Storm to its third-consecutive win, topping his newly minted career-high with 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including a 7-of-11 effort from downtown, as the Johnnies trounced local rival Fordham by 28, 90-62. In addition to his outburst in the scoring column, Ponds also narrowly missed a triple-double with nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. On the season, Ponds ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in scoring with 17.4 points per game and leads the league with 35 made 3-pointers.
