QUEENS, N.Y. - With the start of the 2016 season just a few shorts months away, senior goalkeeper Diana Poulin has been recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com as one of the 10 best players at her position in Division I.
The two-time reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and a three-time all BIG EAST selection for the Red Storm, Poulin has proven herself to be one of the nation's premier shot stoppers since taking over the starting role as a freshman in 2013. In three seasons between the pipes, the Hauppauge, N.Y., native has compiled a record 32-16-5, including 20 clean sheets. Her 32 victories are currently tied for the most in St. John's history, while her 20 shutouts are good enough for second all-time in that category.
A veteran of two NCAA Tournaments for Coach Ian Stone, Poulin anchored the Red Storm to its best season in program history in 2015, as the Johnnies broke school records for wins (15) and shutouts (12) in a season. Six of those clean sheets were solo efforts for Poulin, while she earned combined shutouts with Katie DeVault in five other contests.
A two-time NSCAA All-Region selection, Poulin ranked second in the BIG EAST with a goals against average of 0.83 last season and was twice named the conference's goalkeeper of the week.
