QUEENS, N.Y. - Nearing the end of her junior year at St. John's, Diana Poulin has added yet another honor to her resume before the start of her final season in Queens: a spot at U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team Camp.
The two-time reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year is one of just 26 players nationwide that will take part in the camp, which will be held in Charlottesville, Va., from May 1-7. Poulin is one of only three goalkeepers to get the nod, joining Jane Campbell of Stanford and Andi Tostanoski of the NWSL's Seattle Reign.
Poulin has had an exceptional career so far for the Red Storm, earning three All-BIG EAST selections in as many years, including back-to-back spots on the all-conference first team the past two seasons. With a career record of 32-16-5, Poulin is tied with Kristin Russell for first on the St. John's all-time wins list, while her 20 solo shutouts are good enough for second in school history behind Russell's 32.
Last season, Poulin anchored the Red Storm to its best campaign in program history, as the team won a school-record 15 games and claimed its first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. Behind the play of Poulin and fellow keeper Katie DeVault, the Red Storm registered a school-record 12 shutouts and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
