Beckwith, Oliva and Sterud Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- St. John's women's golfers Kirsty Beckwith, Lindsey Oliva and Saskia Sterud were named to the 2015-16 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team.
A total of 830 women's collegiate golfers across Divisions I, II and III were acknowledged for maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. Leading the way among BIG EAST schools was Butler and Creighton, with four, followed by three from Xavier, Seton Hall and St. John's and one from Georgetown.
Beckwith shined in her rookie season as she recorded an 80.50 stroke average, the second best mark on the squad. The freshman from England secured three top-10 finishes and wrapped up the season by placing 11th in her first-career BIG EAST Championship event. Her best showing came at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, where she finished tied for fourth with a 13-over par (157).
After competing in only two tournaments a year ago, Oliva participated in all nine tournaments for the Johnnies as a redshirt sophomore, highlighted by three consecutive rounds of 85 at the Lady Bison Fall Classic.
Sterud registered an 82.50 stroke average across nine tournaments. The Oslo, Norway product's top finish came at the Lonnie Barton Invitational where she tied for ninth. Sterud also tied for 11th at the St. John's Invitational and 12th at the Hoya Invitational.
