TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Former St. John's men's golfer and current PGA TOUR star Keegan Bradley and his family were honored by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association (MGWA) as the Family of the Year at the 65th National Awards Dinner on Monday evening at the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown, N.Y.
The MGWA's Family of the Year Award recognizes a family for its contributions to the sport and for representing the virtues and ideals of golf and family.
Bradley captured nine individual medals during his time with the Red Storm from 2005-08, the second most in program-history behind fellow pro Andrew Svoboda. In addition to being voted Rookie of the Year in 2011, the former Johnnie became the third player to win a major in his first attempt as he won the PGA Championship in his debut year on the PGA TOUR.
His father, Mark Bradley, is a PGA member and head professional at the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club in Wyoming. His aunt, Pat Bradley, won 31 LPGA Tour events during her career, including six major championships.
The current pro has been hosting the Keegan Bradley Charity Golf Classic in his hometown of Woodstock, Vt., since 2012. The annual golf benefit raises money for the Vermont Cancer Center and Vermont Children's Hospital.
The longest running golf dinner in the U.S., the National Awards Dinner has been hosted by the MGWA since 1952 and honors golf's greatest players, contributors, and organizations.
