FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- Highlighted by Troy Evans' strong afternoon, the St. John's men's golf team finds itself in 10th place at The Doc Gimmler with 18 holes remaining after carding a two-round score of 579 (+19) at the Bethpage Red Course on Saturday.
Tied in 14th place, Evans is eyeing another top-10 finish as the sophomore shot an even-240 in his first two rounds on the renowned course.
Fellow sophomore Seung Yub Baek is three-strokes behind his teammate following a three-over 243 (+3), while Kevin King, Gerald Mackedon and Giuseppe Truglio posted identical scores of 246 (+6) on the day.
As a team, the Red Storm is ahead of Hartford, Saint Peter's and Iona on the team leaderboard but only nine strokes shy of a top-six finish.
Rhode Island and Seton Hall pace the team standings with a 14-under 546, while the Pirates' Lloyd Jefferson Go is in first following a 10-under 130.
St. John's looks to improve its standings during tomorrow's final round as the squad tees off at 8:20 a.m.
