Aaliyah Lewis Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Nod

QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior guard Aaliyah Lewis was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following a pair of home victories for St. John's, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
The senior guard earned her second-career weekly honor roll nod after pacing the offense with 12.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 40 percent shooting, in a pair of Red Storm victories over Butler and Xavier. Lewis' performance helped secure season sweeps for St. John's over the Bulldogs and Musketeers.
In Friday's win over Butler, Aaliyah Lewis saw 37 minutes of action and nearly came away with a double-double, notching 16 points and eight assists. The Staten Island, N.Y., native shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
On Sunday, Lewis led St. John's to a, 64-55, victory over Xavier at Madison Square Garden. In the win, the senior guard came up with nine points and seven assists as she played the entirety of the contest. Lewis continued her perfect free throw shooting, going 3-for-3 against Xavier and a perfect 8-for-8 on the weekend.
Lewis leads the BIG EAST in assists per game at 7.7, averaging more than two dimes higher than the league's No. 2 assist leader, Sydney Lamberty of Creighton (5.3 apg).
St. John's hits the road next week for a weekend series at DePaul and Marquette. The Red Storm takes on the Blue Demons on Friday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m., at Phillips-McGrath Arena in Chicago, Ill., on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
