St. John's Welcomes Georgetown on Sunday

QUEENS, N.Y. - After falling to Villanova on Friday, the St. John's women's basketball team welcomes Georgetown for a 2 p.m. tip at Carnesecca Arena on Sunday.
Ralph Bednarczyk and Kim Adams will have the call for the BIG EAST Digital Network. Jay Alter will provide sideline analysis.
NEWS & NOTES
In the loss to the Wildcats, junior Maya Singleton had a career day as the Indian Head, Md., native grabbed 20 rebounds and scored 13 points in her first career start in a St. John's uniform. The forward went 5-for-10 from the floor and did work on the offensive glass, hauling in nine offensive rebounds on the night.
Akina Wellere was the team's leading scorer, netting 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor. Additionally, the sophomore from Chicago, Ill., grabbed four rebounds and drained her lone attempt from behind the arc.
Aaliyah Lewis moved into fourth on the St. John's all-time assist list after registering three helpers on Friday. The senior now has 504 career dimes.
• Entering Friday as the nation's leading three-point defense, St. John's struggled to defend the Wildcats from behind the arc. Villanova's 10 makes from long distance were the most the Johnnies allowed in a game this season. On the year, the Red Storm is still holding teams to just 25.0 percent from behind the arc.
• After taking on the Hoyas on Sunday, St. John's hits the road for its final two road games of the regular season. The Johnnies visit Providence next Friday before squaring off against Creighton two days later. The game against the Bluejays can be seen in the New York area on the YES Network. The following week, St. John's concludes the regular season with a matchup with Seton Hall on Feb. 26.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown enters play on Sunday with an overall record of 15-8 and 7-6 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas have won six of their last seven games dating back to Jan. 15.
Georgetown is led by the trio of Dionna White, Dorothy Adomako and Faith Woodard, who are averaging 15.5, 14.3 and 14.0 points per game, respectively.
The Hoyas are shooting 38.6 percent from the field and 30.9 percent from behind the arc on the year.
Georgetown owns the conference's third-best scoring offense, averaging 65.9 points per game, while the defense is allowing 61.6 points per game, good enough for fourth in the league.
• Georgetown has done well on the offensive glass this season, grabbing a league-leading 16.2 offensive boards per game.
ST. JOHN'S VS. GEORGETOWN - THE SERIES
Sunday's meeting between St. John's and Georgetown will be the 59th meeting all-time between the two schools, while the Red Storm holding a 31-27 edge over its longtime conference rivals from Washington, D.C.
Dating back to 2011, the Red Storm has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two teams, including each of the last five. The Johnnies defeated the Hoyas, 71-66, earlier this season behind a 13-assist, nine-point, eight-rebound game from Lewis.
