St. John's Hosts Villanova in Play4Kay Game on Friday

QUEENS, N.Y. - Coming off one of its best offensive efforts of the season, the St. John's women's basketball team hosts Villanova on Friday inside Carnesecca Arena for a 8 p.m. tip. Friday's game will be the Johnnies' annual Play4Kay game as both teams will wear pink uniforms in conjunction with the Play4Kay initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Additionally, former Red Storm women's basketball player Rita Haywood will be honored during the game as the team celebrates Black History Month.
FOX Sports announcers Lisa Byington and LaChina Robinson will have the call for the national broadcast on FS1. Megan O'Brien will provide sideline analysis.
NEWS & NOTES
In their last outing at Marquette, the Johnnies got a huge boost off the bench in the form of Andrayah Adams, who went off for a career-high 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor. The freshman knocked down six of her nine attempts from behind the arc, tying Akina Wellere's six makes from earlier this season for the most in a game this year. For her efforts, Adams was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday
Jade Walker continued her solid play, scoring 19 points and draining all three of her tries from long distance. The senior is averaging 16.4 points per game during league play, good enough for fourth in the conference.
Aaliyah Lewis recorded 13 points and 10 assists for her second career double-double. The senior from Staten Island, N.Y., has moved into fifth all-time on the program's assists list with 501 career helpers and is just two shy of passing Debbie Brajevich's 502 for fourth all-time.
• St. John's will celebrate Black History Month on Friday by honoring Rita Haywood, a former Johnny who scored 1,284 career points from 1977-81. Haywood also earned the inaugural Marianne Noonan Memorial Award in 1981, which is given annually to the member of the women's basketball team who best exemplifies the unselfish attitude and team spirit of Marianne Noonan.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
Villanova enters play on Friday with an overall record of 12-11 and 7-5 in BIG EAST play.
Scoring 60.5 points per game, the Villanova defense is allowing 61.4 points per game. The Wildcats are last in the conference in field goal percentage, converting on just 37.0 percent for the season.
Opponents are shooting 41.1 percent against the Wildcats and 33.6 percent from behind the arc.
Villanova is second in the conference with 8.2 three pointers made per game. Sophomore Adrianna Hahn is the team's leading scorer at 13.7 points in 35.0 minutes per game. From the long distance, Hahn is shooting 43 percent, converting on 66 of her 152 tries.
ST. JOHN'S VS. VILLANOVA - THE SERIES
Friday's matchup between St. John's and Villanova will be the 63rd meeting all-time between the two schools.
The Wildcats hold a 37-25 advantage in the all-time series, but St. John's has played well at home against Villanova, posting a 15-11 record all-time in games played in Queens.
The last time these two teams met, Walker recorded her 1,000th career point in a 55-50 loss at The Pavilion.
