DADE CITY, Fla. -- Highlighted by a ninth place tie from Kaitleen Shee, the St. John's women's golf team closed out the Spring Break Shootout on Tuesday with an eighth place finish in the Red Storm's second outing of the spring.
Shee followed up an impressive two-round score of three-over 147 with a five-over 78 to close out the tournament with the third top-10 result of her career.
Saskia Sterud fired a two-over 74 during Tuesday's final round at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club to jump 10 spots on the leaderboard and register a 75-79-74--228 (+12) to finish the tournament in Dade City, Fla., tied for 18th place.
St. John's closed out the Spring Break Shootout ahead of Tennessee Tech, Jacksonville State, Quinnipiac, Fort Wayne and Albany with a total score of 307-302-308--917 (+53).
Sophomore Kirsty Beckwith and freshman Linda Wang finished tied for 28th and 31st place, respectively.
Georgia Southern carded a 302-299-296--897 (+33) to earn the team championship, while Nichada Satasuk of Southern Mississippi won the individual medal.
The Red Storm returns to action in two weeks when the Johnnies travel to Williamsburg, Va., for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on March 27-28.
