Kajan named to the Division I All-East Region Third Team
Following a 2018 season in which she was named to All-BIG EAST First Team, redshirt sophomore Zsani Kajan has earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Division I All-East Region Third Team.
Â
Kajan, the Budapest native, earns a place on the All-Region Third Team after excelling on the pitch for the Red Storm over the course of the 2018 campaign. Kajan capped off the season as the team's leading scorer, recording 11 goals in 19 starts. The redshirt sophomore also dished out a pair of assists for a team-high 24 points.
Â
With 11 tallies on the year, Kajan tied for the second most in the conference and ranked inside the top-30 on the national level at the end of the regular season. In addition, Kajan's double-digit scoring made her just the seventh Johnnie in program history to record 10 or more goals in a single season.
Â
The 5-foot-7 forward capped off the year with three multi-goal contests, including a hat trick against Stony Brook during the first half of the fall slate. With three strikes, Kajan became the first player to record a trio of goals in a single game since Oct. 11, 2015, when former St. John's standout Rachel Daly scored three times in a 4-0 win over Creighton at Belson Stadium.
Â
As a team, the Red Storm turned in a 9-9-1 record, making a trip to the BIG EAST Tournament for the 15th time in program history.
