Red Storm great will be in the lineup for pair of upcoming international friendlies
U.S. Soccer used the long holiday weekend to finalize the men's national team roster for the first two games of its upcoming Kickoff Series. Included in that young and promising group was St. John's legend Tim Parker.
Parker, who earned his first two caps with the senior national team in matches against Ireland and France this past June, was one of 24 players to earn the call up from Head Coach Dave Sarachan.
The Hicksville, N.Y., native will not have to travel far for the first of these two international matches, as the United States will host Brazil on Sept 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Kick-off for that contest is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on FS1.
Four days later on Sept. 11, the national team will return to action at Nissan Stadium in Nashville for a match with Mexico. ESPN will carry that game, slated to start at 8:30 p.m.
From 2011-14, Parker registered one of the most memorable careers in the history of St. John's soccer. After helping the Red Storm capture its ninth BIG EAST title as a freshman, Parker went on to earn a pair of First Team All-BIG EAST honorees and a trio of NSCAA All-Region accolades. At the conclusion on his amateur career, Parker was selected with the 13th overall pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, becoming the first St. John's player ever taken in the first round.
Currently, Parker stars on the back line for the league-leading New York Red Bulls alongside former Red Storm teammate Connor Lade. Led by Parker and Lade, the Red Bulls have allowed just 29 goals in 28 games, good enough for the second-lowest total in MLS.
The United States Men's National Team will play six games total during its Kickoff Series, which will take place throughout the fall.
