St. John’s Welcomes Alexandra Tannous to Academic Support Staff

Tannous returns to Queens following stints with the USTA and The Knox School
QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2019) – The St. John's Athletics Department has announced the hiring of Alexandra Tannous to its academic support staff for the 2019-20 school year.
The St. John's product holds a bachelor' degree in biology and psychology along with a master's in sport management. With the Red Storm, Tannous competed as a fencer under Head Coach Yury Gelman from 2010-14 and also performed at the 2012 Olympic Trials with the Lebanese National Team.
Following her four-year stint competing at the collegiate level, the Little Neck, N.Y., native served as the Team Operations Manager for Gelman from 2014-16 before eventually moving into the student development side of Athletics in 2016. She worked under Associate Provost/Student Development for Athletes Program Dr. Nancy Kaplan for two years as a graduate assistant, facilitating student leadership programs and career development events.
Recently, Tannous took over as the Assistant Athletic Director at The Knox School in St. James, N.Y. Her role responsibilities included games scheduling for 17 teams compiled of 160 students, mentoring student-athletes through their transition from high school to college athletics and seeking scholarship and donor opportunities to enhance the school's facilities and programs. Tannous also served as the Assistant Summer Programs Director with The Knox School.
In her professional career, Tannous has also worked with the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), the Special Olympics and Under Armour.
