St. John’s to Meet UMass on Sunday at Mohegan Sun

Red Storm will look to leave Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament with a 1-1 record
UNCASVILLE, Conn. – After falling to Arizona State on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Air Force Reserve Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, the St. John's men's basketball team will return to action on Sunday in the third-place game against UMass.
Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN2. John Minko and Tarik Turner will call the action live on the Red Storm Sports Network from Learfield IMG College, available on 970 AM WNYM. Fans can also listen to the game on TuneIn and Sirius XM.
St. John's will look to rebound from a loss that saw Arizona State erase a nine-point halftime deficit en route to a 13-point victory. The Red Storm committed 12 turnovers in a second half during which the Sun Devils shot 60.0 percent from the floor.
LJ Figueroa scored 17 points to lead three St. John's players in double figures. Freshman Julian Champagnie recorded a season-high 15 points while Rasheem Dunn finished with 14.
Josh Roberts led the Red Storm on the glass for the third straight game, pulling down eight boards and blocking a pair of shots. St. John's has recorded no fewer than 41 rebounds in a single contest this season and ranked sixth nationally in rebounds per game entering the weekend.
The Minutemen (5-1) will meet the Red Storm after suffering their first loss of the season to defending national champion No. 7 Virginia on Saturday. Three UMass players finished in double figures against the nation's most stifling defense, as Carl Pierre posted 14 points, T.J. Weeks added 12 and Tre Mitchell chipped in 10.
