St. John’s student-athletes turn in cumulative GPA of 3.44
Thirty seven St. John's student-athletes posted a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester, highlighting another banner year in the classroom for the Red Storm.
In total, St. John's student-athletes boasted a cumulative GPA of 3.44 during the 2018-19 academic year with 46 percent of Johnnies recording a mark of 3.5 or higher. In total, 14 student-athletes achieved perfect GPAs in both the fall and spring semesters.
"This is an impressive achievement," said Associate AD of Student-Athlete Services, Eric Rienecker. "The University has much to be proud of, as these academic accomplishments are a true testament to the successful academic culture that the coaching staff and players have created. Each one of our students embodies the meaning of the term scholar-athlete."
The St. John's women's soccer team once again led the way for all Red Storm squads, recording a department-high 3.79 GPA this past year. Four of Head Coach Ian Stone's players recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year, while 26 made the Dean's List.
On the men's side Head Coach Mal Galletta's team came away as the highest-achieving program with a team GPA of 3.52.
Exemplifying the standout character of a model student-athlete, a trio of Johnnies were inducted into the prestigious president's society this year.
In total 81 percent of all St. John's student-athletes finished the academic year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
