The outside hitter notched 41 kills and 5.12 kills per set in the Hofstra Invitational

            QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2019) – After leading St. John's to its first win against a ranked opponent since 2013 and an undefeated record in the 2019 Hofstra Invitational, Efrosini Alexakou has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced this morning by league officials.

            Alexakou helped St. John's open the tournament with a marquee win over No. 14 Oregon, registering 28 kills while hitting a .460 clip in the four-set win. Alexakou's kill total is the most in a match by a conference player this season.

            The Thessaloniki, Greece, native also closed out the Hofstra Invitational by posting a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs in the Red Storm's win over Duke. Alexakou leads the team with 166 kills this season and ranks second in the league with 3.86 kills per set. The former BIG EAST Freshman of the Year also ranks fourth in the conference with 4.26 points pet set

            Alexakou and St. John's head to Chicago this Friday to take on DePaul in the opening match of conference play. The start time is slated for 8 p.m. (ET) inside the McGrath-Phillips Arena.
