Masur returns to the Red Storm as the Director of Women’s Soccer Operations
After graduating from St. John's this past fall, former Red Storm standout Samantha Masur has returned to her alma mater, joining the staff as the director of women's soccer operations, it was announced today by Head Coach Ian Stone.
Masur, who served as a two-year captain for the Red Storm, played a key role in the Johnnies' success over her tenure. The Montclair, N.J., native earned minutes in 53 matches, finding her name on the starting lineup in 38 of those contests.
Masur saw her best offensive output come during her senior campaign, as the 5-foot-7 midfielder capped off her Red Storm career with a season-high two goals and four points. She netted her first career goal by way of a game winner en route to the Johnnies' victory over former BIG EAST foe Syracuse on Sept. 12.
After sitting out her freshman year, Masur made her collegiate debut against Central Connecticut on Aug. 19, 2016. The former Johnnie saw action in five games that year before suffering a season-ending injury. Masur made her return to the pitch for the 2017 campaign, where she recorded minutes in 14 of the team's 18 matches.
As a junior, Masur started in all 17 games that she played in. The newest member of the Red Storm staff registered her first career point for the Johnnies off an assist on Oct. 13, 2018, in the team's 2-0, victory over Seton Hall.
In addition to her success on the field, Masur graduated from St. John's with a 3.63 GPA and a bachelor's degree in Sport Management.
In her new role with the Red Storm, Masur will manage the day-to-day operations of the St. John's women's soccer program.
