Women’s Golf in Second after Day One of Quinnipiac Classic

Kweon leads the way for the Red Storm after day one
The St. John's women's golf team finished day one of the Quinnipiac Classic, posting a 36-hole total of 622 to sit second overall in the standings at The Farms Country Club on Monday.
Host school Quinnipiac leads the way after day one, shooting a two-round 607 to sit 15-stokes clear of the Johnnies.
Leading the way for St. John's is Little Neck, N.Y., native Jessie Kweon, who is in second following the first 36 holes of play. The senior drained a trio of birdies on the afternoon, signing off on a 77 followed by a 72.
Junior Laia Barro also closed out day one of the event inside the top-five. Barro opened up action with a 79 before shooting a 72 over the final 18 holes to jump 13 spots on the leaderboard.
Graduate student Andrea Sanchez signed off on a pair of 80s to close out the day in a four-way tie for 25th place. Junior Cloe Clocchiatti sits one-shot back of Sanchez, signing off on an 84 and 77.
Sophomore Angelica Kusnowo rounded out scoring for the Red Storm lineup, shooting an 84 and 82.
Redshirt freshman Amy Kim, who was competing as an individual, shot an 82 and 79 on the afternoon.
The Red Storm will return to The Farms Country Club tomorrow morning for the final round of play. All teams are set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun start.
