Kajan finds spot on first team, Garziano earns second team nod
Graduate forward Zsani Kajan and junior midfielder Jessica Garziano have been tabbed as United Soccer Coaches East Region selections, it was announced by the organization on Monday.

 After guiding the St. John's women's soccer team to a historic season that was capped by an appearance in the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time in program history, Kajan was named to the East Region First Team, while Garziano tabbed a spot on the second team.

Kajan, who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in her career this season, is coming off one of the finest campaigns in St. John's women's soccer history. The 5-foot-7 forward recorded 17 goals in 23 games to lead the league and rank inside the top-five among Division I opponents. The Budapest, Hungary, native netted a conference-high seven goals during BIG EAST action and registered at least one point in seven of 10 conference games to finish atop the league ledger with 17 points.

Kajan put up five multi-goal games on the year, including a pair of hat tricks against Saint Joseph's on Aug. 21 and Creighton on Oct. 24. With two three-goal outings this season, Kajan is the only player in program history to record four career hat tricks for the Johnnies.

Kajan climbed the program's all-time list for a number career records this season. With 45 goals and 101 points over her Red Storm career, Kajan ranks second overall in both statistical categories.

Garziano, who provided leadership and an inimitable toughness on the pitch for the Johnnies this season, has found a spot on the East Region Second Team. After leading the squad in scoring over the spring 2021 season, Garziano served as the Red Storm's leading facilitator over the 2021 fall campaign. The Melville, N.Y., native recorded a team-high 10 assists over the fall campaign, for the second most in program history. The two-time all-conference selection registered five of her 10 assists during BIG EAST action to sit inside the top-three in the conference.

The Red Storm concluded its historic season with an overall record of 13-7-3 and a 6-3-1 mark in BIG EAST action. St. John's earned its 14th conference tournament berth and reached the BIG EAST Championship game for the first time since the 1994 season.
