Rachele Rastelli Selected to AVCA All-Region Team

Rastelli named one of the best on the East Coast
QUEENS, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2021) – After claiming the BIG EAST's top individual honor and turning in one of the top offensive efforts in the nation, Rachele Rastelli has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) East Coast All-Region Team, it was announced on Tuesday morning by the organization.
This marks Rastelli's second AVCA All-Region Team selection. Last spring, Rastelli and Efrosini Alexakou in became just the second duo in program history to earn spots on the East Coast All-Region Team during the same season.
Rastelli was named the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Year after leading the league with 4.64 kills per set and 5.23 points per frame throughout conference play. Her 5.19 points per set throughout the season currently places her 15th in the nation. The senior right-side hitter took the country by storm and currently ranks in the top 50 of four different statistical categories.
The Parma, Italy, native posted the highest kill totals by a conference player this season, occupying the top three spots on the individual kills list. Her 35 kills at Georgetown on Oct. 29 currently ranks sixth in the country for kills in a five-set match. She posted double-digit kills in 25 of 27 matches, including seven 20+ kills games, and two 30+ kills matches.
Rastelli etched her name in the Red Storm history books as she became the 11th player in the program's history to reach the 1,000-kill mark against Cornell on Sept. 3. She currently sits in fourth place on the program's all-time kills list with 1,415 kills.
In addition to earning one of the league's highest honors, the right-side hitter was unanimously selected to the All-BIG EAST team for the third straight season.
