Cloe Clocchiatti carded a career-best 1-under 71
The St. John's women's golf team shot a 311 (+23) to place second at the Fairfield Tri Match on Wednesday.
Sophomore Cloe Clocchiatti, who was competing as an individual, shot a career-best 1-under 71 to finish in the runner-up spot and sit three-strokes back of first place.
"Cloe played great today and it was exciting to watch her first collegiate under par round," said Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo. "We have a lot to take away from today's round and look to work really hard in the next few days to prepare for the BIG EAST Championship next week."
Graduate student Linda Wang closed out play five-strokes off of Clocchiatti, firing off a 76 to tie for third in the standings. The Fresh Meadows, N.Y., native drained a trio of birdies at the 18-hole event.
Senior Andrea Sanchez also produced a top-five finish for the Red Storm. Sanchez, a product of Cancun Mexico, drained a pair of birdies on the front-nine before closing out play with a score of 77.
Freshman Angelica Kusnowo and junior Jessie Kweon each shot a 79. Sophomore Jill Beglin rounded out scoring for the Red Storm lineup, turning in an 81.
Sophomore Laia Barro, who was also competing as an individual, sat one-stroke back of Beglin with an 82.
St. John's will return to action on April 23-25, as the Johnnies travel to Fort Meyers, Fla., for the BIG EAST Championship.
