BIG EAST Semifinal Saturday Washed Out

CAYCE, S.C. – The St. John's men's and women's tennis teams had their Saturday BIG EAST Tennis Championships matches postponed to Sunday due to weather in Cayce, S.C. The women's team trailed, 1-0, with singles play having just gotten underway against No. 1 Xavier when the matches were called off as the rain began to fall.

The No. 2 men's team, who took down Xavier, 4-1, on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal, will play its match with No. 3 Marquette on Sunday at 1 p.m. The contest was originally slated to be played on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The No. 4 women's team, who blanked Connecticut on Friday afternoon, 4-1, will now finish its match with the Musketeers on Sunday at 10 a.m The Red Storm's contest began on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The BIG EAST Tennis Championship matches will now take place on Monday, with the women's at 9 a.m. followed by the men's at 1 p.m. On the men's side, No 1. DePaul and No. 4 Butler will battle for the other spot in the final, while on the women's side, it's No. 2 DePaul and No. 3 Villanova competing for a spot in the title game.
