Johnnies earn second accolade from WGCA this month
The St. John's women's golf program earned a spot on the Women's Golf Coaches Association's (WGCA) academic top-25 list, tying for 21st, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
As a team, the Johnnies turned in an impressive 3.84 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year, leading the way for the St. John's athletic department at the conclusion of the term.
"Being recognized as one of the top 25 women's golf programs for academics is a great honor," said Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo. "The team worked very hard in the classroom this year despite all the challenges and I am really proud of them for this accomplishment."
The Red Storm joined BIG EAST foe Creighton as the only two programs in the conference to earn a spot on the top-25 academic list.
This is the second honor that the program has received from the WGCA this month, as the Johnnies placed all seven student-athletes on the 2020-21 All-American Scholar Team. Graduate student Linda Wang alongside senior Andrea Sanchez, junior Jessie Kweon, sophomores Laia Barro, Jill Beglin, Cloe Clocchiatti and freshman Angelica Kusnowo all earned the recognition.
