Report highlights successes of challenging 2020-21 academic year
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Athletic Department released its 2020-21 annual report on Thursday, detailing the athletic and academic accomplishments of the University's 300-plus student-athletes under the most trying of circumstances.
First and foremost, the report details the success of Red Storm student-athletes on the fields of competition, highlighted by the fencing program's fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships and the men's basketball team's winning campaign under the direction of BIG EAST Coach of the Year Mike Anderson.
In the classroom, more than 90 percent of St. John's student-athletes earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and tallied a cumulative GPA of 3.57. 110 student-athletes turned in at least one semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
In addition to the Red Storm's athletic and academic success, the annual report also details the department's many efforts in the community, including Solidarity Week and the formation of the Council on Community, Culture and Social Justice. The report also offers a glimpse into the Red Storm's newly minted UNLIMITED program, which is meant to help student-athletes get a leg up in the world of Name, Image and Likeness.
The annual report also includes a comprehensive list of the department's donors, without whom St. John's athletics would not be able to continually succeed at the highest level.
