Texas Tech grad joins department as an assistant director of athletic communications
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's Director of Athletics Mike Cragg has announced the addition of Christina Anderson to the Red Storm staff as an assistant director of athletic communications.
"We're thrilled to welcome Christina to the Red Storm family," said Cragg. "She has a wealth of experience at a variety of levels in college athletics and a noticeable passion for St. John's Athletics. We look forward to the great work she will contribute as a member of our department."
At St. John's, Anderson will serve as the primary contact for the Red Storm women's basketball, women's soccer and men's and women's golf programs.
Anderson joins the Red Storm after most recently serving as a director of communications at Florida International University for two years. In this capacity, Anderson handled primary sport responsibilities for men's basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball while serving as a secondary contact for the Panthers' football program.
From early 2017 until the fall of 2019, Anderson worked with the volleyball, softball, cross country and track & field programs at New Mexico State as an assistant director of media relations. Anderson also worked in a secondary capacity with the Aggies women's team.
Before heading Las Cruces, Anderson spent time as a media relations assistant at the office of the American Athletic Conference in Providence. In this capacity, Anderson served as a conference contact for women's soccer, softball and men's and women's tennis while also assisting in coverage of women's basketball and swimming & diving.
Anderson's first full-time experience in collegiate athletics began in August of 2015 when she joined the Murray State staff as a media relations assistant, serving as the primary contact for women's soccer, cross country, men's and women's tennis and women's track & field.
Anderson got her start in athletics communications as an undergraduate at Texas Tech, where she spent two years as a student intern with the Red Raiders.
A native of Montgomery, Texas, Anderson has deep New York connections despite hailing from the Lone Star State. Both of her parents were born in in New York and her father, Gerald, is a double alumnus of St. John's.
